Cruise Ports in Central Italy
The port of Civitavecchia
Rome is the most important and visited touristic city in Italy but unfortunately there is no cruise port of Rome! The biggest cruise ships dock in the port of Civitavecchia and this port is about 85 kms from Rome. This is really a pity because it takes time to reach the capital of Italy, about 1 hour and 30 minutes driving, slightly less between Civitavecchia and Rome Fiumicino airport.
If you are planning to embark in Civitavecchia you have two options if you are coming by plane. You can book a tranfer from Fiumicino airport to the port of Civitavecchia if your flight lands in Rome in the morning of the day when the ship begins the cruise. If your plane arrives in the evening or if you plan to come to Italy the day before we can take you from Fiumicino airport to a hotel in Rome and them the day after, from Rome to the port of Civitavecchia. So you can book our limo service if you need transfers between Civitavecchia and Rome or Civitavecchia and Fiumicino airport.
If you are planning to stay one night in Rome before reaching Civitavecchia you can book a transfer from Fiumicino airport to Rome.
We also offer Civitavecchia tranfers with pre-cruise or post-cruise tours of Rome if you have never visited the Eternal City before. This is the perfect limo service for all tourists wishing a short introduction to the highlights of Rome but you can obviously decide to book a standard half or full day private tour of Rome.
The port of Naples
The port of Naples is literally “inside” Naples, so cruisers who want to visit this beautiful city are lucky. In theory you don’t need limo services but in practice it is better if you book a shore excursion if you want to make the most of your time because Naples is a caotic town. Furthermore, many travelers may be frightened to walk alone in Naples because it has the reputation of being a dangerous city. There are certain parts of Naples where it’s better not to go at all, that’s true, but in general Naples it’s not much different from other touristic towns in Italy. The problem is that tourists are too busy looking at maps and monuments and very often they don’t see what happens around them. In this case booking a private limo service is the best option.
If you decide to visit Pompeii then it’s better if you contact Tiber Limousine Service. It would be too complicated to get to Pompeii using public transportation and tourists cannot waste the little time available. If you also wish to visit the Amalfi Coast then you should definitely contact us. It’s almost impossible to visit the Amalfi Coast using public transportation. What about Mount Vesuvius? Did you know we can take you almost to the top of Mount Vesuvius? You can reserve a shore excursion to Mount Vesuvius and the ruins of Pompeii if you like the idea. Have a look at our shore excursions in Italy.
If your cruise ship docks in Naples for an entire day we suggest you to reserve a full day shore excursion to Pompeii, Positano and Amalfi or a full day shore excursion Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi.
The port of Livorno, gateway to Florence
Unfortunately the cruise port of Livorno is far from Florence, about 1 hour and 45 minutes driving time and this means that if you decide to do a shore excursion to the most famous city of Tuscany you will waste about 3 hours. To tell the truth, Tuscany is so beautiful that perhaps you’ll be happy even during the transfers from the port to Firenze and the way back and when driving from Florence to Livorno Tiber Limousine Service driver will stop in Pisa and let you visit Piazza dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower.
